While winemaking is a surprising career choice for a woman native to the country of Colombia, for Bibiana there was no other option. Making wine had been her dream since 16 years of age. After receiving her degree in winemaking from the University of Bordeaux, Bibiana’s passion took her around the globe—initially working at the renowned Chateau Haut-Brion, then off to Alsace, Côte Rôtie, Burgundy, South Africa, and California. It is in California where she decided to stay and craft her Cattleya Wines, named after the national flower of Colombia.
The Pisoni family’s singular goal is to grow except ional grapes for making exceptional wine. Wines made by the Pisoni fa mily are bottled under the Pisoni Estate, Lucia and Lucy labels. Gary and his two sons, Mark and Jeff, carry out a multi-generational commitment to sustainable farming and producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah from their vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands. These vineyards and wines represent an extreme commitment to farming and classical winemaking.
Bibiana and the Pisoni Family meet with Shared Notes: the winemaking joint-venture between wife and husband, Bibiana and Jeff. Both had early desires of making wine, and spent most of their lives doing so. Shared Notes, however, is the first wine they produce together. This winery produces two styles of intense and serious Sauvignon Blancs.
